In Response To: The Truth About What Took Place - Should Major Tournament Events be Allowed to be 'Resolved' by Agreement Rather than by Play? (Alan Grunwald)

I thought, with the extemely short period of time involved, that zero backgammon had been played. Many things had to have occurred very quickly.

Nonetheless, if a one point match was played, it was incorrect to do so without the knowledge and consent of the directors -- neither Lynn nor Troy were aware of the arrangement and both believed the 'match' had been played. Players may not arbitrarily and unilaterally change the format of the tournament, the length of matches, etc. -- placing their own interests and preferences ahead of those of the tournament, the game, and the other players. Hopefully, this principle is reinforced with all of us as a result of this occurrence.
