I think you are overrating the giants by assuming that one never loses except to another giant when saying there is nearly 50% chance that one will play the other in a random draw before the finals.

When finding the probability of a non giant playing both giants before the final (under assumptions that giants never lose to a non -giant except they will to the one particular player of interest who is destined to win to the finals) you have overlooked that if a non-giant is in the same half of the draw as the two giants that the two giants might play each other before one plays that non- giant.
