Problem of byes

Do you also disagree with seeding in a sport such as tennis?

Now it really starts to become a bit OT. ;-)

I do not know much about tennis. If they seed there, I think they do it, because they want to maximize the probabilty to have a great final, which is good for the spectators. Maybe that makes it also good for the sport itself, because the spectators pay for the professionals in the end. Nevertheless I think it is not the most fair method to determine a champion.

BTW: I also dislike the elminiation style tournaments in general. I would prefer to see more swiss like tournaments in backgammon. But that is, of course, a personal opinion. As well as to dislike seeding.
