A question for recorders

Forgive me for sounding like an old fuddy-duddy, but recordings are all digital these days, aren't they? If you're one of those people who takes 6 months to enter a match into XG and might never get around to it... wouldn't it be possible, at a minimum, to send your opponent a copy of the video file so at least they don't feel like you're keeping it to yourself? Then at least the opponent has the option to enter it into a bot if he wants to.

Perhaps there is a technical reason why this practice is not more common. I'm interested in responses.
