I doubt a good player is willing to sacrifice anything but a tiny amount of equity making a sub-optimal move designed to put his opponent into a game they supposedly don't know well, and hence will misplay badly. The idea of knowingly making the wrong play, where small amounts of equity are at stake between two conflicting game plans won't come up that often IMO. If someone is playing poor moves just to work this gambit more than a few times a match they are probably overdoing it.
