I doubt a good player is willing to sacrifice anything but a tiny amount of equity making a sub-optimal move designed to put his opponent into a game they supposedly don't know well

The more common situation is where the bot doesn't know about the relative weakness of the opponent and so is using the wrong equities to calculate PR. The good player is sacrificing nothing, but the bot doesn't know it.
