Touch Move rule, dangers

Barry:
1. You are correct that there is not a pool of young players biting at the bit waiting to become bg players as soon as a touch rule is widely adopted. However, I suspect that there are *some* young players who are kept at bay because of the shuffling.
2. Yes, there are many other reasons why BG is waining in the US, but why add to that tally by making it less inviting even to a small group?
3. I don't think any of the players in Fort Lauderdale (including the DMP folk I played and the chouette crew) had any ill intentions. We are human and make mistakes. As long as a player is shuffling checkers, the other has to keep paying attention to guard against errors. Why should I be made the guardian of your errors (or you of mine)?
3. By the way, is there anyone in the anti-touch camp who disagrees with the proposition that checker-shuffling burdens the opponent?
