Just adding a couple of cents.

Over the years, for many players, we win, we lose. Sometimes we win ladders or championships. There are sometimes cash prizes.

The money will come, the money will go. For me, however, a trophy is a fine thing. I like trophies. I wont sell them, I will be reluctant to throw them out, and hopefully many years from now, I will look back at my collection, and fondly recall winning them.

I already have many of them. Some in boxes, some on shelves dotted around the house, some in cabinets. I find that these bring me the greatest joy. A representation of success. A physical reminder.

Rod - perhaps I would recommend that you collect a very nominal fee for your meetups, and use that money to buy a trophy. Have it engraved. Give it to the winner of something.
