I've felt that people might be incentivized not to come if there was a fee, even a modest one. The goal has always been to provide a venue for people to congregate from backgammon that offered no potential impediment to play. Perhaps a fee causes people to buy a soda less and ultimately cause our venue to not welcome us.

Maybe implementing a voluntary donation would work.
