Ohio State ABT Results/and a question

Bill Calton had to go 9-1 to win the tournament, but this is usually not the case in a 32-player field. Bill had to win so many matches because he lost early (2nd round) in the Main. If the Second Chance winner wins a 32-player tournament, usually he will have won fewer than nine matches.
Here are the final four players of the Second Chance and their records (match by match) up to that point (W = win, L = loss, B = bye):
Bill Calton (WLWWWW)
Nick Mourtos (WWWLW)
Frank Talbot (BWLWW)
Ray Zamani (WWWWL)
The bracket continued with Bill Calton vs. Nick Mourtos and Frank Talbot vs. Ray Zamani in the Second Chance semifinals and Calton-Mourtos vs. Talbot-Zamani in the Second Chance finals.
Of these four players, all but Bill only had to win eight matches (counting Frank's first-round bye as a win) to win the title. Because Bill lost early in the Main he was fed into the very early rounds of the progressive Second Chance.
