Posted By: Boop In Response To: Its time to think about major changes in tournament backgammon (Phil Simborg)

I have hopes that BG Buddy can help in some small ways to grow backgammon.
BG Buddy can tweet game and match wins as they happen - entirely in the background. Each tweet advertises the tournament name, the players involved and how the match is progressing. #hastags can also be used to advertise sponsors - completely automatically. Keeping up with a match that you're unable to watch live for whatever reason would be great. Football fans get tweets about goals scored.

The Position Photo feature could also be advertising beautiful boards while giving people around the world a connection to your events. I know there is already a lot of backgammon social media but it’s quite often after the event. These “cube action?” photos can be sent as they happen and can create some good social media chatter. I’m imagining this being used in the kind of showcase match where I saw Phil Simborg chatting to Akiko as they played a match. To see a cube position photo from that match appear in my twitter or facebook feed as it was taken would be great and could potentially reach thousands of other people. I was lucky to catch that match by popping in to this forum, but a photo tweet would have alerted me to the match without the need for any effort on my part. (and I would have an interesting position to ponder and possibly retweet!)

BG Buddy on an iPad while streaming a match clearly shows the event name, scores, player names, cube, clock times and most importantly the dice. Not being able to discern the dice in a streamed match is a major frustration.
