There's no way I'd bet on the winner of a match if I didn't know who was playing, but that doesn't matter. What you're proposing is a bet you can't lose - an equivalent would be if Jason said the winner gets 1 million $ and offered a $200000 hedge.

That's not the case here. Remember they were playing the final of a qualyifing tournament, so Jason had every right to assume, as I would have, that his opponent knows what they're playing for, and the quoted figure served just as a reminder of what the win is worth, so that his opponent doesn't have to look for it, count it, or whatever. For me it's just courteous behaviour on Jasons part, as he could have just left it to Player B to figure out what the win is worth, and it doesn't matter how he phrased it.

Come on, do you expect me to believe that someone played the final of a qualifying tournament and didn't know he's not playing for cash? How could that happen? Maybe there were two tournaments starting at the same time - 1 regular and 1 qualifier, Player B clicked on the wrong link, then paid the entry fee for the wrong tournament, and played all the way to the final without noticing that he's playing the wrong tournament?

I don't buy it. You'd have to be either dumb or completely careless to do that - in both cases player B should at least have the guts to honor the agreement and pay. My guess is that player B is neither - he just decided not to pay. I'm pretty sure that if Jason had won the match, Player B would expect to be paid and wouldn't care if Jason actually got cash.

I think you only see the grey area because you probably know player B and like him, and you know Jason Pack and don't like him.

I don't know Jason Pack and I probably don't know Player B, and for me this case is clear as blue sky.

Still curious about B' name...
