Touch Move rule, dangers

Not quite the same comparison with chess where the entire playing surface is flat with no bar in the middle. You have to LIFT a checker sometimes to place it and then touch with the same hand another checker to place it.
You sometimes slide chess pieces, sometimes lift them -- it depends on the type of move. For example, a knight jumps over pieces, or you might lift a rook or queen or especially a bishop in order to avoid accidentally touching pieces that are close to the path of the piece. It seems to me that one lifts naturally in chess at least as often as one does in backgammon.
But sorry, I don't think I understand the point you're making anyway. How does lifting versus sliding affect a touch move rule change?
