The neural networks technologies on which the current top BG bots rely are notoriously poor at their explanation capability. An open question is, whether the revolutionary Annotator ex machina will resort to advances in rule extraction techniques (or similar) in NNs, or is rather(semi)independent application which utilizes NN (rollout) data as input for explanations but is not as strong a player per se, or whether the new generation of bots, along with explation capability, is based on a new technology (other than NN) yet to be seen.

My (uneducated dilettante) guess is the second option (although the first and second are not necessarily mutually exclusive ?).
