Late April Fools' Day...

In Response To: Late April Fools' Day... (Casper van der Tak)

Different starting positions have different gammon and backgammon percentages, thus affect METs a lot.

Not sure how, why or what, but that must be taken into consideration when coming up with such an alternative? Eg. will you know the next starting position up front or not. Will you play once per side for each position? How will you determine who goes first? Will you play the same position all match, or alternate between games?

Anyway, if I were to pick a position, and I was leading the match, I would clearly go for a non-gammonish position, and vice-versa :-)
