In this thread, I see lots of very strong players advocating that backgammon skill should be rewarded. They fear (perhaps rightly so) that there is a dilution going on.

I want to warn you all that steering backgammon rewards towards the top players will have a dangerous outcome. If you work to make it harder for people like, oh, I dunno, ME, to win at backgammon, those people will stop playing, and the top players won't get their rewards.

Aren't the top players better off having a small advantage in a huge field than a huge advantage in a small field?
