The calcutta thing sounds like a non-issue to me. Just make it public what your policy is in such situations. If you don't like condoning "silly mistakes" in your favor, then make that preference clear to everyone ahead of time. Then the bettors can take that into account when deciding how to bet.

The issue isn't so much whether you "play your best" but whether you are fully disclosing all relevant information to people who are considering betting on you.
