Seeding byes...

I didn't think that seeding was intended to increase the chance of the "best" player winning a knockout tournament. I thought it was to increase the next best players chance of reaching the latter stages?

It does both.

If I was thinking of entering a tournament which was seeded, and I knew that I would not be good enough to be seeded, personally that would not put me off in the slightest.

I think we demean our game by not seeding.

Maybe that makes you a more reasonable person than me, but in the climate we have now, with all unseeded tournaments, I wouldn't enter a seeded tournament. I already know I'm mediocre in the Open division... I don't need it rubbed in my face before I even start.
