51 Entrants in a Bracket of 64
With 51 players in a bracket of 64, there are 13 slots that remain unfilled. Let’s fill them with a ficticious player named BYE.Unless you are planning to have a BYE play against another BYE in Round 1, with the winning BYE advancing to Round 2, you need to award 13 byes in Round 1.
After awarding byes, there will be 51 – 13 = 38 players remaining. Let’s place these 38 in sub-bracket A. The 13 players with byes can be placed in sub-bracket B.
Now, you can go ahead and assign byes randomly, to both seeded and non-seeded players alike, as explained in your post.
