Hi Igor,

thanks for your remark, which is true enough.

The average error for EPC approximation by Matussek's formula is 1.70 for the database of endgame position that was used during the whole investigation by me, i.e. around 50000 positiona. You are right in noting that this is an over-generalization of Joachim's work. However, my quest was for a method that can be applied generally and is not restricted to pure bear-off positions. About 1/3 of the database positions still involve some bear-in.
