Here's a dilemma if playing legal moves

The chouette story doesn't seem exactly the same to me. In one case, you have a player who didn't manifest any intent to hit until after he picked up his dice, even though he did so immediately afterwards. In the other case, you have a player who tapped the checker, clearly demonstrating an intent to hit, while the play was still in progress and the dice are down.

In the first scenario, it's possible he didn't even see the hit until after the dice were up, but in the second, it's obvious he saw the hit and chose to do it. I feel quite a bit differently about these two scenarios.
