Money is fungible, so you're correct that the money ultimately comes from participants (also the TD if the T operates at a loss).

But I don't think entry forms should look like phone bills that are crammed with one charge after another. At most, make it a separate voluntary fee. Then you'll find out if people actually want it.

If someone doesn't want to pay for points, then they don't get them. How much effort and expense is there in NOT giving someone points? Once they start playing and winning, they may well opt in.

Will it discourage a new player from attending if the cost is $410 instead of $400? Maybe, maybe not. But there is SOME point for most if not all players where you reach a limit. More importantly, why make someone pay for something they don't want or need?
