Duplicate backgammon - issues...

Let's say there are 2 players, player A and player B.
Player B might be better than player A, let's say B averages a 3.2 PR and A averages a 4.1.
However the particular position that come up, on average, through luck, are ones that A is more likely to get correct because he understands those positions better.
The duplicate backgammon match they play with show A outperforms B in this test to "accurately" determine who is better.
I know that these matchups occur - we all do.
So not only do you have the fact that duplicate backgammon is only likely to show who the better player is but you have all of the other issues you mentioned in trying to determine who is most likely to win a live tournament or come out ahead in money play sessions.
