What attracts you to tournaments?

So, rather than conjecture about the best way to triple backgammon attendance in two weeks, I'd like to get some feedback from the community: what attracts you, personally, to a tournament? What are the major factors in your decision to attend or not attend a tournament?

What would you like to see? Higher entry fees? Lower entry fees? More places, less places paid? Clocks, no clocks? Format? Matter of convenience? Return and rake? Anything not yet mentioned?

All ideas, feedback, and opinions are welcomed.
