I don't think you'll ever get one thing that pleases everyone. What one person loves about something, another will hate. It makes it hard to generalize about the overall pool of BG players.

That said, that is why I asked what you personally look for in a backgammon tournament (rather than what players in general look for in a tournament), and I think your viewpoint and Marv's are equally valid.
