What attracts you to tournaments?

In Response To: What attracts you to tournaments? (Ken Larsen)

Some reasons, off the top of my head:

1. Proximity;

2. Excitement value of the event: expected turnout; special events, such as the Masters Invitational or USBGF Nationals;

3. The location is a place I want to spend a few extra days at as a tourist;

4. Transportation and lodging costs;

5. Friends that my be attending;

6. Respect for or friendship with the director;

7. Format
