You make excellent points, but if we wanted to truly do an experiment to measure the PR value of holding the cube, we would simply have XG play XG with one side starting with the cube and see what the results are after thousands of games. Further, we can have XG expert play XG professional or one of the lower levels of XG and start the lower level with the cube and see what happens.
Even that would not be definitive as XG might not play so well starting out with the cube, or might not play as well as it thinks it does.
The point of this experiment is to see how two humans who are about 3 PR apart do in a live game where both players are playing to win and not playing for PR. Depending on how the games go and the strategies employed, it would surprise me if we end up 3 PR apart, regardless of the outcome. I expect to be 4 or 5 PR worse than Mochy, however, if he gets into games where he wants to make it complicated and play deep back games or snakes etc. it could be that his PR in this competition will be much higher than his PR in match play or in dual-duel competitions.
Relative to the idea of my hanging on to the cube, I will say right now that I believe that if I do that I am losing a major part of the edge I have--I am giving up all my cube vig if I don't use it to pressure Mochy when I get the upper hand. It is precisely because I can raise the stakes when I get the upper hand, and he cannot (on initial cubes) that I have an edge. Further, because of our difference is skill, there are certain types of games where I will be much quicker to double than others.
