I could see playing a very complicated game (maybe a long back game) where the advantage of the more skilled player is magnified because both players have many difficult decisions ahead of them. In that case, the skilled player's practical equity is much higher than his technical equity. (By "technical" equity, I mean the equity assuming two perfect players.)

From a technical point of view the more skilled player is doubling too early, but from a practical point of view he is not.
