A Proposal to Start the US Backgammon Federation

Backgammon definitely has a need for a National organization. And, Yes, it will be a lot of work, but I support this goal. All of our tournament directors are also players themselves.
It is key that we do NOT self-conflict. And I see from Chuck's commentary and Phil's response (both further down in this thread), that they absolutely agree.
I very much like Phil's approach to how to get this FINALLY STARTED with an elected Board of Director's and their elected President. I would consider it an honor and am definitely open to serving on such a board.
I need to give the overall proposal some more thought, even after reading all of this threads entries (dated and time prior to this repsonse). Framing the mission of the organization and prioritizing its initial goals and activities will be critical to its success.
We can do this with a small working group assuming that we are empowered by a mandate from the players (recognized by the numbers who elect to join).
btw__ I do NOT think that Phil should be excluded from consideration as a "board" member. His experience in racquet ball's organization and his creative mind would be a big plus for the initial board.
