Fully agreed. I never played clocked backgammon, but in other clocked games I would tell people to hit their clock (or do it for them). At the weekly club competition, but also in official competition, nationally and internationally. As Stick mentions, there are limits to how you'd want to win.

The same, I assume, for BG.
