You have put your finger on the key difference that makes comparisons with chess almost meaningless. I have trouble with the 12-second delays that are common in the U.S. already. I much prefer the 18-second delays that are used in Japan. If you want to give me 90 minutes or 2.5 hours of bank time, however, I will gladly let you toss in the rules and ethics of chess clocks.

But I'm still not giving you touch-move! That's a whole other discussion (which has its answer in the subject line above).
