Some of the most difficult arguments I have ever had were ones like this, where I agree with the other person.

Let me put it another way: you are right.

Let's encourage whoever the hell makes the rule to rewrite this rule. But let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Just because you (and I) don't like one or two rules or the way they are written, let's not lose sight of the fact that a) it is better to have clearer, fairer rules; and b) backgammon needs to have some international ruling body that finally decides what the basic rules of tournament backgammon should be and how they should be applied.

Those are the two main things I am hoping to see accomplished as a result of these discussions and the years of effort that Jeb, Chuck, and I and others have spent trying to convince a couple of people that "It is broke, so we should fix it."
