Whether it's unseemly is in the eye of the beholder.
Really? Suppose your opponent sets up the board wrong and you believe the incorrect setup is to your advantage. Should you sit there quietly and hope your opponent doesn't notice, or should you correct the setup?
Of course you should fix it. The game is more fun when both players do their best to follow proper procedure. Knowingly allowing opponent's clock to run during your turn falls in the same category IMO.
