...to gain notoriety like Chess and them be governed by cultured rules.

A simple cultured rule being recording your moves. Does't matter if we have developed technology to record your moves automatically or even if you are a World Champion playing in a World Championship match.Also,this prerequisite of recording moves has lead us to the rich literature we have in chess today.

One can add touch move,clock, etiquette to the mix gradually.
