After reading a bunch of responses from so many angles, I felt a need to add to/update my previous comment:

Get rid of the cube!

Can chess, checkers, bridge, poker, go, etc. be played with the doubling cube?

Yes.

Does anyone play chess, checkers, bridge, poker, go, etc. be played with the doubling cube?

No!

Cube bastardizes backgammon beyond recognition and for no good reason.

It's not even a real skill. Approximate kind of, window kind of skill...

People who claim to have cube skill are like chiropractors who call themselves doctors whom they they are not! Making claims don't make up for the lack qualities like intelligence, resolve, patience, etc. that are needed to be real doctor and similarly to be a real world class backgammon player.

So, my advice: Do the humanity a favor and quit pretending "cube doctors"...!
