How would you respond to somone who has the following possibly contrarian viewpoint and question?

It seems the key metric you are using to measure success is how many play at organized tournaments. Why are the millions who play and enjoy the game casually not also a measure of success?

How would the life of a typical Giant, open level player, intermediate level player, novice player improve if suddenly many of those millions started playing live tournaments?
