What is the best (fairest and most efficient) way to tie-break 4 player round robins?

I think that luck plays too big a part in 1 point matches so I am not too keen on this short a decider.

Also, there may be occasions where 3 players are tied on points. Maybe even all 4. Don't want to get into a complex decider situation again!

In this case, it's important for me to remember that the rolling seasons are short - only 7 weeks. So if the lower player is truly deserving, they should soon get promoted amongst their presumed weaker opposition, and the inverse too.. natural selection :)

Thanks all for your input - I don't think this is a biggie. Unless I can get an option for the FIBSleague system implemented by LeagueRepublic, I am still leaning towards the simpler 'Points - Score for - Score difference'
