So if I understand you, Ed could change his prior (illegal) play while knowing what his opponent's subsequent role is? Well, that is indeed strange. So the scenario was:

1) Ed rolls and misplays one of the numbers (the six). And hits the clock.

2) Metrelis corrects Ed's use of the six and rolls.

3) Ed notices and asks what is going on and asks for a ruling.

4) Ruling is that Metrelis' roll stands, but that Ed can play his prior roll any way he wants to (knowing what Metrelis' roll will be).

Boy, that is strange. On the face of it, seems unfair to Metrelis, but perhaps that was part of his punishment for moving an opponent's checker. I can imagine that this caused quite a dustup at the table. Sorry I missed it.
