First, why the hostility? An earlier and more appalling example of hostility was when a tournament player was denounced for playing NLM in a NLM tourney! How is that reaction remotely sportsmanlike?

Second, unless you are claiming ownership of backgammon how exactly are those who disagree with you in good faith hurting the game?

Third, the ostensible NLM choice involved a number of Phil's opinions. So I don't know how to vote for NLM without agreeing with his misguided opinions. (For the record, I agree with the vast majority of Phil's opinions.)

Finally, there are more than two choices.

If you want my vote, it's (1) NLM-Preferred, (2) NLM-Mandatory, (3) LM-Preferred and (4) LM-Mandatory, in that order.
