Phil, a nearly identical thing happened to me and it did not end well. My wife is a wonderful cook. First rate. For a while, I was begging her to make some omelets. One evening, she made the above shopping request to me. I was stunned and COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I HEARD!!! My heart filled with anticipation, excitement and glee as I rushed out and, as always, did as she asked.

When I returned, she was quite upset. The problem was that I interpreted her request too literally, as you point out in the story. Oh, and apparently she said "six", not "sex".
