When I first saw baffle boxes I immediately didn't like them. They threatened the old way I knew and loved backgammon. However, after giving them just a few tries I realized they were the best option and quickly switched.

Same thing with checkers on the dice. At first I thought it was bad. After playing just a few games with checker on the dice being legal I immediately knew I was never going back to the old way.

I think the theme here is two fold: 1. Things that make the game go faster are good. Backgammon is best played fast, or at least reserve all the slowness to thinking about difficult plays, not having to reroll the dice 5 times due to cocks.

2. Gotta give things a try before forming an opinion. I was too quick to hate on baffle boxes and now all I want to use are baffle boxes. The key is not to judge too quickly without giving it a fair an honest evaluation.
