Legal, but Unpleasant

It sounds like the ruling was probably correct on the merits, but it rubs me wrong nevertheless.

The purpose for introducing clocks was to prevent interminable delays. Now that we have them, however, clever players have found new ways win. These methods have nothing to do with checker play or cube action, but instead are based on punctilious enforcement of clock rules. It’s all legal, but it rubs me the wrong way.

If we were playing a match for nothing over my kitchen table, I most certainly would have given you the hit. I like to think I would have done the same thing at Hartford.
