Impossible Move in Connecticut

I want to start off saying that I had an enjoyable time at the tournament in CT. I am aware that these issues have been dealt with before and commented on in the past. I think this incident sheds the same light. While low and time and on the bar against a 5 point board. I rolled 55 from the following position.
I bounced my checker in and around the board. In one bad swoop after the check covered my 5 point, I hit the clocked and put Herb Gurland's blot on the bar.
Since I put lifted and put the blot on the bar after I hit the clock. The dispute followed.
Illegal vs Impossible, 1.1 INTERPRETATION of rules vs End of turn etc. Since the tournament was not legal moves.. the decision was it was up to Herb to decide if he would rather have his checker on the bar or on his 5 point.. well ahead in a race.
Herb Gurland won that game. While I won the Crawford, I then lost the final game.
This is simple a FYI so players know how others respond in these situations.
