2009 - tournaments only or other matches too - how do you feel?

In 2009 I was playing a match against someone for a substantial sum of money. It was at a tournament but not part of the tournament.

We were using clocks to keep things on pace.

I was on the roof and just hitting my clock because I was closed out. Eventually his homeboard opened and... I hit the clock without rolling.

I said something. He insisted that my "play" (missed turn) stand, which may have resulted in missing saving a gammon.

So...

1. Should I have been able to actually roll? 2. Only in a tournament or here too? 3. Do we all now feel the same way about this Giant that we feel about Herb?
